As a child, chances are at some point you dreamed of being a fighter pilot or flying a 747 through the skies. Thankfully, today’s RC jet planes allow everyone to live out their childhood flying fantasies!
However, selecting the best remote control jet plane can be extremely difficult if you don’t know what to look for. Not only are there a ton of RC jet plane options to choose from, but there’s also a learning curve for those new to the high flying world of RC jet planes.
There are also some key differences between RC jet planes and more simple kitset airplanes that mean its even more important to make sure you really understand what you are getting when you purchase an RC jet plane.
As RC jet planes are also a lot more extreme than say operating an RC car, a larger remote control truck, or even a high line remote control boat.
When the eye-catching packaging and wild performance claims are added to the mix, picking the right jet plane can be a crap shoot for RC jet plane beginners.
However, to help you out I’ve put together a list of the best RC jet planes on the market today. Whether you’re a novice RC jet plane operator or a long-time enthusiast, there’s sure to be an RC jet plane on this list for you!
This post, it’s photos and table include links to products on other websites. If you purchase something through these links we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
1. Value for money.
If you’re interested in a quality RC jet plane that doesn’t come with a killer price tag, it’s hard to overlook the Great Planes Micro F-86 Sabre EDF Tx-R RC Airplane.
This RC jet plane is powered by a mighty brushless electric motor that propels the sleek and appealing plane up to 35 miles per hour or more, making it one fast micro. Under good flying conditions, the TX-R Micro F-86 Sabre is a blast to operate in the park.
In fact, in a small park area, you’ll probably be spinning around in circles because it can go from corner to corner in a few seconds at only half throttle! While speed is great, the beautifully detailed RC jet plane also flies straight as an arrow.
If you’re a beginner, it can make all of your childhood dreams come true. That’s an awful lot of benefits for such an inexpensive plane, making it my top pick when it comes to value for your money.
2. If you want something cheap but which still gives an authentic experience.
While creatively designed RC jet planes can be fun to fly, most people want a plane that looks and flies like the real thing, and the 2 CH Air Earl Electric RC Jet Airplane fits the bill.
Not only does the jet plane resemble a private passenger jet plane to a tee, but it flies great as well.
The RC jet plane is super stable, easy to fly, and surprisingly crash resistant, making it an excellent RC jet plane for beginners. However, it’s also fast enough to keep experienced RC plane operators more than happy.
While there is some minor assembly required, putting the polishing touches on the 2 CH Air Earl Electric RC Jet Airplane is rather simple and can be done in a matter of minutes.
3. If you want an entry point jet you can improve over time.
If you already have an affinity for RC jet airplanes and know you want to enjoy the hobby for years to come, you more than likely want an entry point RC plane you can tinker with and improve over time.
If this is the case, then the 4 CH Electric US Navy Goshawk T-45 Jet Plane is an excellent choice.

Since it’s electric, the Goshawk T-45 is much easier to tune and maintain than a nitro RC jet plane. However, thanks to its powerful brushless high-torque 2040 motor, Li-Po battery back, and 25-amp speed control, the US Navy Goshawk T-45 is amazingly quick and has outstanding control and stability.
It is also lighter than similar airplane models of the same size. Even stock, the ready-to-fly jet plane can perform inverted rolls, loops, and other amazing aerobatics.
Although it flies fine right out of the box, there are numerous parts available online, so you can make a variety of adjustments and upgrades over time.
Of course, there are plenty of jet planes that have just as many customization options as the US Navy Goshawk T-45, but these more powerful and expensive models often require a higher level of mechanical and flying expertise.
Also, unlike many other models, the US Navy Goshawk T-45 comes with a high-quality 4-channel 2.40 Ghz radio receiver, saving you a decent chunk of change right out of the gate.
4. If you want something that really looks like the real thing.
There are a number of high-end replicas in the RC jet plane market that look almost exactly like the real thing. Unfortunately, their price tags look a lot like the real thing as well.
Thankfully, there are some excellent options with lower price tags that also look like their bigger brethren.
Many of these replicas revolve around military aircraft, and my favorite of them all is the Skyangel T-45 Goshawk 50mm EDF. This highly-detailed RC jet plane is a perfectly scaled replica of the menacing T-45 Goshawk fighter jet.
If you want something that looks almost identical to the real thing, then this is it!
However, this is one fast jet plane, so you should be prepared for some seriously fast flying! Due to its speed and quick response, I wouldn’t recommend it for absolute beginners, but it’s a nice model for more experienced flyers.
5. If you want something big that doesn’t break the bank.
With a name like Warthog, you can bet this RC jet plane is big and fierce! At over 40 inches in length and weighing in at seven pounds, the A-10 Warthog ARF is a beast of an RC jet plane.
Typically, the bigger you go the more money it will cost you. However, the A-10 Warthog proves you don’t need to break the bank to get a large RC plane.
Unless you opt for a brushless motor setup, this big boy may be a little underpowered, but with such an inexpensive price tag, you’ll have plenty of room in the budget for any upgrades you may want to make.
The Best RC Jet Planes
There you go folks! Whether you want to get the most bang for your buck or desire a fast flyer with high-performance capabilities, these are hands down the five best RC jet planes on the market today for virtually every type of enthusiast.
