1. Traxxas RTR 1/10-Scale Monster E-Maxx
It’s pretty difficult to find anything negative at all to say about this beast of a remote control monster truck. The Traxxas RTR 1/10 Monster E-Maxx RC 4×4 definitely takes off-road 4×4 fun to another level.
In addition to featuring a 16.8 volt dual motor drive system that produces enough torque to make climbing hills a cinch, the suspension, chassis, and electronics of the Traxxas E-Maxx makes it one of the toughest and most capable RC remote control trucks ever made.
Thanks to its Revo suspension and differentials, buttery smooth transmission, dual servos, and waterproof electronics, the E-Maxx is easier to use, stronger, and more fun to drive than nearly every other remote control monster truck out there.
Simply charge up the batteries and you’re ready to start tearing up the terrain like a pro! Seriously, RC monster trucks don’t get any more ready to run than the E-Maxx.
From mini electric remote control monster trucks to large gas-powered models and everything in between, even if you’ve owned every type of remote control monster truck imaginable, the E-Maxx will probably long remain one of your favorites.
So, if you want a great RC 4×4 that ticks all of the boxes, the E-Maxx is a terrific option!
“Very fast, tough, and easy to use”
OOR: 4.6
2. Traxxas RTR 1/10 Monster Revo 3.3 4WD Monster Truck
While the E-Maxx is fast, tough, and great for bashing around, if you’re looking for a great race truck or an RC 4×4 with superior off-road handling, you can’t go wrong with the Traxxas RTR 1/10 Monster REVO 3.3 Monster Truck.
The Revo’s 2.5 motor is capable of propelling it to speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour, but it’s the truck’s amazing reversing transmission that really steals the show, allowing you to easily back out of precarious situations or tight spots by simply flicking a switch. Out of all of the RC monster trucks on the market, the Revo 3.3 has in my opinion one of the best reversing systems available.
When you factor in its massive 6.3-inch tires, waterproof dual digital servos, EZ start system, and all of the extra parts that come with it, the Traxxas Revo 3.3 is the ultimate off-road platform and one of the best remote controlled trucks available.
With seven national championships under its belt, the proof is obviously in the pudding!
“Expensive but well worth it”
OOR: 4.6
3. Redcat Racing Terremoto Brushless Electric Monster Truck with 2.4GHz Remote Control
Let me begin by simply saying that this remote control monster truck is simply awesome! Big, fast, and remarkably tough, the Redcat Racing Terromoto is a terrific RC 4×4 for anyone looking for some serious fun.
At 1/8 scale, the Terremoto is noticeably larger and heavier than the Traxxas E-Maxx or T-Maxx, but it’s equally fast as well. With a 15-inch wheelbase and measuring just under 24 inches in length, the Redcat Racing Terremoto is huge.
Unlike many mini RC monster trucks or similar-sized trucks, the Terremoto was built to perform from day one. With oil-filled big bore shocks, three differentials, an adjustable suspension, dual waterproof servos, and a 2260KV brushless motor, it’s designed to wreak havoc on any terrain right out of the box.
You may want to upgrade the charger, but the Terremoto is considerably less expensive than similar RTR remote control monster trucks, making it an incredible value for us big kids at heart.

“Inexpensive but very fast and durable”
OOR: 4
4. Traxxas RTR 1/10 Monster T-Maxx 3.3 4WD
Out of all of the RC drift cars, RC rally cars, and RC trucks you can find these days, the Traxxas T-Maxx is undoubtedly one of the most fun to own. As the best-selling remote control monster truck range in the world in terms of RTR nitro monster trucks, the T-Maxx can jump, climb, and tear up seemingly impenetrable terrain that would stop many other RC monster trucks dead in their tracks!
With a huge new stance, improved durability, and incredibly fast tire-burning performance, the Traxxas RTR 1/10 Monster T-Maxx 3.3 pretty much laughs at virtually all obstacles standing in its way.
This beast of a remote control monster truck can reach speeds in excess of 45 miles per hour, which can make it difficult to control when you’re getting used to its cutting-edge digital remote. However, once you do, you’ll be able to rip up the race course or your backyard with ease.
If you want a big, tough, fast, and extremely reliable RC 4×4, the Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3 should be at the top of your list.
“Very popular high-performance machine”
OOR: 4.6
5. Team Associated 20502 MGT 8.0 RTR Nitro Monster Truck
When you think of RC monster trucks, you probably envision rough, rugged, and super-charged dirt demons that can jump anything, climb over anything, and take a licking and keep on ticking. The embodiment of all of this and more, the Team Associated 20502 MGT 8.0 RTR Nitro Monster Truck is quite simply one of the best!
Equipped with a dirt-churning AE 8.0cc engine, the MGT 8.0 is the most powerful Team Associated RC 4×4 to date. However, this beast of a remote controlled truck provides much more than just a super-powerful motor. In fact, it also comes factory assembled with a Pro-Start system, cutting-edge XP3D FM digital radio, eight oil-filled shocks, a smooth automatic transmission with an easy-to-use reverse function, specially designed all-terrain tires, precision ball bearings, a stylish painted body, and much more.
Best of all, this 1/8-scale RC 4×4 is incredibly easy to work on. With plenty of room and a wide array of available replacement parts, you’ll be able to keep it fine-tuned and dominating the dirt at all times!
“No-nonsense RC truck that performs”
OOR: 3.6

Hi
As a single mom of 2 teenage boys, we are looking for the best remote control truck that is best for country living, we have no concrete, just lots of dirt roads. Which one would you recommend? Also where do you buy these?
Thanks,
Sheri
Hi Sheri,
Great to hear from you. There are a few different options out there and like most things a lot of it depends on how much you want to spend 🙂 . For total top of line RC off-road trucks you can go crazy spend a small fortune on something like the Traxxas T-Maxx (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036SORYS/?tag=myrc-image2-20). These trucks are AMAZING but probably not something you want to forking out for for both kids at the same time!
Luckily there are some much more affordable great options out there. If you wanted something very budget conscious that would be a good place for your kids to get a taste for RC trucks I’d go for something like the Maisto R/C Rock Crawler (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ML36HI/?tag=myrc-image5-20). These are hugely popular trucks and being of a ‘crawler’ design they are also better than a standard truck when it comes to climbing through small rocks and gravel. In fact if you like the idea of a crawler over a plain off-road RC truck the Exceed RC MaxStone 4WD (http://www.amazon.com/dp/9269809021/?tag=myrc-text3-20) is another slightly more expensive but still reasonably proceed option with greater durability and performance.
For straight out RC Trucks at a decent price I’d go for either the Dromida MT4.18 (http://www.amazon.com/Dromida-MT4-18-2-4GHz-Battery-Charger/dp/B00GE1CQOM) or the Exceed Infinite (http://www.amazon.com/2-4Ghz-Exceed-RC-Electric-Infinitive/dp/9269804003). Both great trucks and it really comes down to a personal preference at that point.
Does that give you a better idea of what you might be looking for? I’ve included Amazon links above too for all the trucks which is just a good a place as any to pick them up from. Any other questions you’ve got just let me know.
Thanks!

Thanks so much, we will look at all these.
Hi
we have a problem, first of all thanks for your help, we followed your advise, and got the 150 dollar exceed crawler, this is my 14 year old’s first rc car, it came yesterday, was slow, but we charged it, then as it was going 1/2 a mile an hour it bumped into a table leg, now the part that makes the car turn is broken. The problem is we cannot contact this company, they have no contact info, this was a big expense for us,as a single mom, what should we do?
Thanks,
Sheri
Hi Sheri,
My sincere apologies for not getting back to you sooner! For some reason we never received the normal notification we do when someone posts on the site. Very sorry to hear about the trouble with the Exceed – this seems very out of the ordinary for these great little crawlers. Did you purchase through Amazon? If so you should be able to contact the seller directly through Amazon to sought out a refund if the product was defective. And once again REALLY sorry we didn’t see your post until now :-(.
Thanks!
