Cheap FPV Goggles – We Pick the 5 Best!

Cheap FPV Goggles 2FPV can be loads of fun, but even if you find yourself a great pair of cheap FPV goggles. it can still do a number on your wallet.

From the drones themselves to the  cameras, of course the goggles, and everything else that goes into FPV, it’s certainly not the cheapest hobby around.

However, immersing yourself into flight and experiencing the thrill of being a pilot firsthand is a rush that’s second to none.

The Thrill

If you’ve never done it before, you’re in for a treat, and there are some cheap FPV goggles out there that will definitely impress you.

You can fly in FPV via an external monitor or by the use of special FPV goggles.

While external screens are great, and some goggles actually include them as secondary options in their design, goggles are a must if you want to enjoy the ultimate FPV experience.

Unfortunately, not all FPV goggles are created equally.

Compact Goggles vs Box Goggles

FPV goggles generally fall into one of the two categories: compact goggles and box goggles.

Each type has its pros and cons.

Smaller compact goggles are lightweight and comfortable, but bulkier box goggles sometimes offer more features and almost always provide the best bang for the buck.

Although the quality of FPV goggles has risen considerably along with consumer demand, they’re also becoming less and less expensive.

Cheap Can Still Be Good

Today, there are several cheap FPV goggles to choose from with enough tech and features to fully enjoy the first-person viewing experience.

If you want to enjoy FPV but don’t want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, you’re in luck.

When it comes to drones and drone accessories, I’ve spent hours upon hours testing them all.

Here’s our take on the best budget FPV goggles your hard-earned money can buy.

1. Arris VR-009 5.8Ghz 40CH FPV Goggles

Small, lightweight, and equipped with enough features to provide FPV newbies with one heck of a fun time, the Arris VR-009 FPV Goggles are without a doubt one of the best cheap FPV goggles around.

However, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting these cheap goggles to be as great as they are.

The smallish three-inch screen had me a bit skeptical at first, but I was blown away by the color crispness and clarity from the get-go and became a big fan after a couple of uses.

Despite being one of the least expensive budget FPV goggles around, the Arris VR-009 goggles are super lightweight and comfortable to wear.

The foam isn’t too thin or too thick, which in addition to maximizing comfort, blocks out nearly all external light for a better viewing experience.

I must admit, given the price, the double antenna also had me a little nervous at first.

However, they work quite well, allowing the 58G40CH goggles to provide clear signal transmission in almost every environment.

Navigating the menu is also surprisingly straightforward.

While a DVR function would’ve been nice, all in all it’s hard not to be satisfied with the Arris VR-009 FPV Goggles.

They’re comfortable, easy to use, and provide sharp, high-resolution images, making them my top pick for anyone searching for cheap FPV goggles to dip their toes into the quadcopter racing arena.

Pros:

• Great price
• Sharp, high-resolution images
• Easy to use
• Adjustable image controls
• Very light and comfortable to wear
• Good battery life

Cons:

• Screen is on the small side
• No auto-channel feature
• Could be a bit sturdier

2. Crazepony EachineEV800 5.8G 40CH FPV Goggles

If you’re looking for cheap FPV goggles, chances are there’s an Eachine model out there for you.

With a Raceband headset, 5-inch detachable HD LCD screen, and plenty of other goodies for a minimum price, the CrazeponyEachineEV800 FPV Goggles may be it.

Considered by many the best budget FPV goggles on the market today, the EV800s have a lot to offer.

While they’re not as light and comfortable as Fat Sharks, they’re similarly designed and have a comfortable face sponge for hours of enjoyment.

Unlike the Arris goggles, the EV800s have an advanced auto-search feature that automatically displays the correct frequency on the screen for effortless syncing.

This is important if you’re going to get into quadcopter FPV racing.

It also sports an impressive five-inch HD LCD screen with a more than serviceable 800 x 480 resolution, providing you with crystal clear video and allowing you to hone your FPV skills.

All in all, the picture quality is similar to that of Fat Shark goggles. However, they cost ¼ the price.

Perhaps the coolest aspect of the EV800 FPV goggles is its detachable design.

Yes, you can remove the screen and give it to a buddy or put it on a tripod for some serious FPV fun. Pretty neat indeed.

The included 2000-mah battery also provides plenty of juice. In fact, it will give you three hours of flying fun per charge.

Unfortunately, the battery level meter isn’t the most accurate, so you may want to set a timer before hitting the skies.

Another downside is the lack of a DVR, which would’ve been nice. However, for FPV goggles in such a low price point, DVR is more the exception than the rule.

All things considered, it’s hard not to like CrazeponyEachineEV800 FPV Goggles.

As far as cheap FPV goggles go, they’re one of the best options available today.

Pros:

• Great goggles for beginners
• Ready to use out of the box
• Large detachable screen
• Sharp, clear image
• Automatic channel locator

Cons:

• Average antenna
• Battery level meter not accurate
• A little on the heavy side
• Doesn’t come with a DVR

3. Eachine VR-007 Pro 5.8G 40CH FPV Goggles

The Eachine VR-007 Pro FPV Goggles are one of the least expensive FPV goggles on this list, yet they’re well-made and come ready for FPV flight right out of the box.

Despite doing minimal damage to your wallet, these budget FPV goggles are comfortable to wear and thoughtfully designed to provide an excellent, user-friendly FPV experience.

While the Eachines VR goggles aren’t the smallest out there, they’re surprisingly lightweight and comfortable to wear.

Despite being cheap FPV goggles they’re fitted with a foam pad for comfort and have a large adjustable head strap to ensure the perfect fit.

The EachineVR007budget FPV goggles aren’t ideal for eyeglass wearers.

However, the eyeglass lenses are customized for people with nearsightedness, giving anyone with myopia below 400 degrees the ability to enjoy FPV without the need for glasses.

How thoughtful is that?

This design detail alone makes VR D2 one of the best cheap FPV goggles for people with nearsightedness.

In terms of tech, an upgraded diversity FPV receiver with a full frequency display and power indicator is also included.

There are three buttons on the right of the device, which allows you to bring up the on-screen menu and cycle through various options.

This setup makes using the Eachine VR D2 007 easy as can be.

It is powered by a 1600-mAh Lipo battery and comes with a mini-USB cable to charge them up after a couple hours of flight.

Combined with its comfortable fit, easy-to-use menu, and specialized glass, these goggles are a great value for the money and a good introduction to FPV flight.

Pros:

• Great value for money
• Comfortable and lightweight
• Adjustable head strap
• Easy to use
• Minimal ambient light
• 40-channel auto scan
• Perfect for people with nearsightedness

Cons:

• Average build quality
• A little large
• No head tracker
• Battery indicator sometimes inaccurate

4. Crazepony SJ RG01 5.8G 48CH FPV Goggles

Being affordable, the Crazepony SJ RG01 fpv goggles are ideal for budget-conscious fpv pilots desiring a pair of fpv goggles with good optics and a sleek design at a reasonable price.

Not your average fpv goggles, they feature not one but two displays for ultimate on-the-ground versatility.

Unlike many budget fpv goggles, the Crazepony SJ RG01 goggles also come with an adjustable width for optimum vision at all times.

These reasonably cheap fpv goggles are compatible with all 5.8 gigahertz bands and the diversity fpv receiver ensures the image quality stays stable and clear for consistent fpv performance.

Meanwhile, the dual-antenna set-up keeps the frequency nice and clear.

Perhaps the best cheap fpv goggles in terms of comfort and fit, these nifty budget fpv goggles are smaller and more compact than the VR-007, EV800, and other box goggles as well.

This is important, because aside from the battery, comfort is the key to maximizing your fpv flight time and overall enjoyment of this awesome hobby!

Is the Crazepony SJ RG01 goggles the absolute best budget fpv goggles?

Well, it depends on your budget.

However, if you want a cheap price but also comfort, good image quality, and a versatile design, they’re definitely tough to beat.

Pros:

• Sleek and lightweight design
• Two displays
• Stable image quality
• Adjustable width of display
• Dual antennas
• Real-time video recording
• Easy-to-use menus

Cons:

• Resolution could be better
• External battery backup would be nice
• Slightly narrow field of view

5. FXT Viper Version 2.0 FPV Goggles

If your idea of the best budget FPV goggles or cheap FPV goggles is a pair that simply has “good” image quality, decent features, and comes with an affordable price, these FXT Viper 2.0 FPV Goggles aren’t for you.

On the other hand, if you’re not necessarily looking for “the best cheap FPV goggles” and want a solid mid-range pair that is priced a bit higher, this might be right up your alley.

These unique goggles aren’t the cheapest FPV goggles out there, but they’re loaded with features and come in well under cheap Fatshark goggles or Aomway Commander goggles costing twice as much.

One of the best features of the FXT Viper goggles that separates them from super cheap FPV goggles is the use of an integrated refractor.

Instead of your eyes staring endlessly into the screen itself, the refractor reflects the screen to relieve eye strain.

Another neat aspect of the Viper not found with other budget FPV goggles is their eyeglass-friendly design.

Unlike the cheapest FPV goggles, they’re made to comfortably fit glasses, even with the refractor attached.

It doesn’t matter if you’re nearsighted, farsighted, or both, even of you wear pop bottles for glasses, this well-designed pair of FPV goggles will fit comfortably, as guaranteed.

Despite ample padding and a slightly larger box design, these budget FPV goggles are surprisingly lightweight for added comfort over long periods of time.

However, what I really love about these goggles is the features.

Not only do they have a built-in DVR with micro-SD cards for easily storing recorded flight footage, but they also have an HDMI-in.

This means, unlike other best cheap FPV goggles out there, they can be used for both first person viewing and multimedia entertainment. Talk about cool!

With a 5.8G 40-channel true diversity receiver, there’s no need for dual antennas or a goofy looking mushroom antenna.

When you factor in its five-inch LCD HDMI monitor as well, there’s a lot to like about the FXT Viper 2.0 FPV Goggles.

Their slightly higher price tag may not make them your first choice if searching for the best cheap FPV goggles.

However, if you have a flexible budget and are on the hunt for the best budget FPV goggles to accompany your lineup of DJI phantoms or jump right into quadcopter racing, these FXTs are tough to top.

Pros:

• Very well-built
• Great for quad racing
• Excellent features
• Two-in-one goggles and monitor
• Large five-inch LCD HDMI display
• Sharp image quality
• Built-in DVR
• Comfortable fit
• Can wear with glasses

Cons:

• Good value but a little pricier than others on this list
• User interface and menu is a little clunky
• DVR is only 600 x 480

Making the Decision on Cheap FPV Goggles

There are a ton of impressive FPV goggles out there, but many of them cost a lot and really put a strain on your budget.

Don’t get me wrong, FPV drone flying is A LOT cheaper than flying the real thing, but it costs a little more than even some other RC hobbies like new remote control cars or even fast rc boats .

In fact, as you can see, there are several different cheap FPV goggles available for pilots on a variety of budgets.

The key is to narrow down your spending limit and consider the features important to you.

By doing so, you’ll be able to make flight with the best budget FPV goggles for you and experience drone flight like never before!
